Police Luxury

If you think OUR government spends money frivolously, have a look at Hamburg, Germany, where the standard police cruiser is a brand new Mercedes E-class sedan.

It must be nice for the people of Germany to know that while out writing traffic tickets and busting pot dealers their cops are enjoying:

•
Tire Pressure Monitoring System
•
Heated Outside Mirrors
•
Heated Wiper/Washers
•
Heated / Air Conditioned Seats
• Quad Climate Zones
• Air suspension
•
Premium Interior Trim

•
Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel
•
Blue Tooth Compatible

And so on and so forth.
Do you think rappers in Germany still brag about driving Benzes when Benzes are the cop car? Maybe instead they brag about driving tricked out Ford Crown Victorias!

  2. It's a funny thought either way. Who knows? Maybe it'll turn the system around. Suddenly the ex-cop-cars will be coveted by superstars, fashion models, company executives, movie directors.... This could be the start of a truly vintage, earthier, wallet-friendly phenomenon!

  3. From the Wikipedia article where I found the photo:

"German police typically use cars from German manufacturers. Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Audi, Opel and BMW are commonly used as patrol cars (Streifenwagen)."

  6. a mercedes in germany is like a chevy in the states. their not really that expensive in germany. if you try to buy a dodge you pay a lot more than for these things. + they were really donated, ussually they have audis. in italy there is even a lambo police car, so thats not really big business here....

  7. That's really interesting. Are Mercedes not actually the same car there that they are in America? Ie, not as luxurious? In America it's generally understood that a Mercedes is the most well-made and most technologically tricked out car on the market. Of course then there are the Ferraris, Bentleys, etc, but that's a whole different level. In America it's generally understood that American-made cars are just about the bottom of the pile, followed by Japanese, then anything European, Saabs, BMWs, etc. That's bizarre that it would be reversed in Europe!
